Building an Email List – Starting That Task You’ve Been Putting Off

Sharing is caring!

Everyone has that task they’ve been putting off for a long time. Maybe it’s a project around the house or maybe it’s finally diving into TikTok. As this is being written we are on lockdown from the coronavirus. Assuming you are healthy, there is no longer any excuse about not having time. For me it’s time to star building an email list.

I’m not sure if you are familiar with the work of Pat Flynn from the Smart Passive Income blog. He has built an entire online business and has been transparent about the entire process. From his tactics to his earnings, he shares everything with his audience. He has some great content, specifically if you are in the early stages of building your online business. But no matter where you are in the process, he has some excellent content.

Every day during this pandemic he has been doing live streams on YouTube every day and calling it “The Income Stream.” As of April 17, he is on day 32. It’s good to see someone taking action and helping others, while continuing to build his business in our current climate.

0 to 100 Email Challenge

He has a lot of internet marketing courses, some are free and some have a price, but I decided to take advantage of one of the free ones. It’s called the 0 to 100 Email Challenge. Basically, it challenges you to try to build 100 email subscribers in 72 hours. It gives you tips in a daily email that tells you how to make this happen.

So one day into the challenge I have 11 email subscribers. Time will tell if I make it to 100. But that’s not the point of this email. The point is, you need to take action and get to work on that thing you are putting off for your business.

Get Started Today!

Whether you are thinking about getting into Pinterest, building an Instagram business account, starting a Facebook Group or firing up an email list (like me), if you start today you will be so much happier with yourself in six months.

For instance, I was also putting off a Facebook Group for a long time. I’ve had one for about a month and my only regret is I wish I had done it years ago. I already have over a thousand members in it, but if I had started this a couple years ago I could have 100,000.

Stay tuned as I will be updating this email challenge every so often with updates on the number of subscribers I have as well as tips or tricks I’ve learned along the way. As of now the list is just a spreadsheet of email addresses. Between now and the next time I will choose a paid emailing service and load all my subscribers in.
